Accomplished physician specializing in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and educator
Lauren Dungy-Poythress, MD will be the Keynote speaker for IndyBabyExpo.
Currently, she serves as Medical Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine for the
Community Health Network of Indianapolis, where she promotes the health and
well-being of mothers and their unborn babies. “We feel that the expertise that Dr.
Dungy-Poythress has to offer the community is extremely beneficial.” says Indianapolis
entrepreneur Jenn Kampmeier, founder of IndyBabyExpo.
A new event geared toward Central Indiana parents and parents-to-be, as well as
grandparents and children – IndyBabyExpo – will be launched this fall. The two-day
happening, which will take place April 26 & 27, 2008 at the State Fairgrounds, will
provide a wide array of vendors and exhibitors for new and expectant parents to explore.
Many of the featured products and services are by parents for parents, including:
nutrition, health and safety, pregnancy and risk factors, clothing fashion trend and sales,
as well as, innovative products and furnishings.
As she did with her previous venture, IndySingleScene, Kampmeier will turn over a
percentage of the proceeds from IndyBabyExpo: The Villages and
Suite Dreams. Babies R Us and Channel 13 WTHR are the premiere sponsors of
IndyBabyExpo.
“The initial feedback I’ve received has been outstanding,” says Kampmeier. “I’ve had
more than a few people say this is an event that is overdue for our metropolitan area.
I’m excited, and look forward to inaugurating this new concept in the spring.”
Participants to the event will be eligible for door prizes that are donated by a variety of
local vendors. There will be opportunities for vendor spotlights and interactivity though:
daddy/mommy diaper derby, Stroller Fit Exercise demos, Infant Safety Corner, and
Maternity and Children's fashion shows. We will also offer educational speakers on the
subjects of labor and delivery, breastfeeding, car seat safety, finding daycare, and
baby's first year.
IndyBabyExpo will take place in the Ag/Horticultural Building of the State Fairgrounds. It
will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27.
